These beautiful butterflies were released at Caroline Morrow’s funeral at All Saints West Camel last week, and have been making appearances here and there in the village. We hope the fine weather keeps them happy for a few more days.

Caroline’s service was conducted by Revd Rose Hoskins. As the butterflies were released, Rose spoke these words:

As we remember Caroline and her fascination with butterflies we also remember that for early Christians the butterfly was a symbol of life and the hope of eternal life.

In the words of one writer,

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam
And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again and moves on
And though we wish it could have stayed,
We feel inspired to have seen it.

And so we give thanks for Caroline and the inspiration she gave to each one of us.
