About

Sutton Montis is a small rural community nestled at the foot of Cadbury Castle, an Iron Age hill fort reputed to be linked to the Arthurian Legend and Camelot. It is surrounded by rolling fields and orchards and is an extremely friendly, generous and hospitable parish. The village is made up of houses and cottages, two working farms and a small village hall. The residents comprise several working families and there is a predominance of active retirees.

The church plays a central role in the community organising various social and fund-raising events throughout the year. Similarly, residents join themed suppers, quiz nights, coffee mornings and other events organised by the Village Hall Committee.

With the sun shining it was wonderful to be able to hold our Easter service in the churchyard, all socially distanced – the first time we had been able to worship together for some time.

Recent Mothering Sunday activity: “The flower team at Holy Trinity prepared posies of spring flowers for all the ‘Mum’s’ of the congregation and also the wider village in recognition of Mothering Sunday on 14th March. The posies, together with a card and the best wishes of the Churchwardens and members of the PCC of the church, were delivered to ‘Cider Cottage’ for collection by the three men of the PCC who distributed them to various addresses in the village. Before Coronavirus, the posies were handed out during the traditional Mothering Sunday service in the church and the posies this year enabled other treasured memories to be recalled of times past.”

Spring posies waiting to be delivered.
